Oyster Mushrooms

What are Oyster Mushrooms?
In the wild, oyster mushrooms, also known as "tree mushrooms," grow up the trunks of trees like small shelves. An ideal oyster will have a nice wide cap and short stem. They taste delicious sauteed slowly in a pan with garlic and olive oil, or added to soups, grains, or any variety of dishes. Often the tender tops are cut off and used for cooking and the stems discarded, but the stems are also tasty when cooked properly, so save those too!

Growth Conditions: Certified Naturally Grown
Pesticide and Chemical Free! ~ Our oyster mushrooms are cultivated indoors in wheat straw bags with high humidity and constant fresh air circulation. Thanks to being able to grow these inside in sterile conditions, no pesticides or chemicals are necessary.

Because these oyster mushrooms are grown locally and small scale, sales are on a first-come-first serve basis.

Oyster Mushrooms and Health
As an added benefit, increasing evidence has shown that oyster mushrooms can help in lowering cholesterol. Specifically, they contain lovastatin, which decreases cholesterol production in the liver, and beta glucan, which helps in eliminating cholesterol from the body (see video).
